Preparing for Success.
I am a big proponent of preparation for success. What I mean by this is making all the necessary preparation in whatever it is you are trying to succeed at, in order to increase your chances of success. So let’s say if I am wanting to have success while fly fishing, I need to prepare to be successful by doing things like practicing my casting. But here is the thing,
Sometimes success doesn’t come. You can be the best caster on the planet. You could have the greatest knowledge of the species of fish you are targeting. You could have prepared for months for the trip of a lifetime. But you have to keep this in mind. Sometimes it just doesn’t work out. Sometimes, no matter how much preparation is put into success, success doesn’t come. You can chalk it up to bad luck. You can chalk it up to whatever is you want but somethings just don’t need an explanation.
To be completely honest, I hate to fail. I hate the feeling I get when I put in so much preparation to succeed and the success doesn’t come. I hate knowing I tried my hardest and didn’t get the result I wanted. But you see that’s what keeps me motivated to learn. It took me 10 trips on the water with a fly rod before I even got a bite, let alone catch a fish. But each failure motivated me to learn more. It motivated me to research what I was doing wrong. It motivated me to keep going.
You see there is nothing wrong with failure. However, not learning from your failure is preparing to fail again.
So go out and lay the framework for future success, but be prepared to fail as well.
Good Luck and Tight Lines,
Josh
